Technical Overview of the Play! Framework

This month, Barry Burd will be making a presentation on the Play! Framework. The Play! framework is yet another Rails/Grails-like framework for creating web applications connected to databases. The cool thing about Play! is that Play! runs Java, so you can develop in Play! with our JUG's venerable programming language. Oliver Nutter and Thomas Enebo (developers of JRuby) told Barry that among all the Rails copycats, the Play! framework is one of the ones that does things the right way. (How does Play! do all the meta-programming that you find in Rails with Ruby's features? Java reflection, perhaps?) Anyway, in this session, Barry will demonstrate the Play! framework, tell you everything he knows about it, and then make up some stuff off the top of his head about it.

Meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad second floor meeting hall starting promptly at 7:30pm. Meetings are open to the public, and visitors are encouraged to join ACGNJ.
